Periodically, I Google my name, not out of wanting to see my name out there on the Internet, but instead to see where I am listed under a Google search.

Apparently, my name was linked to a Payday loan/marketing company. Unraveling the pieces became a time-consuming hassle. Without filling an online application, there was no other way to contact the company, and contacting Facebook to report fraud proved just as difficult.
In contacting the NC State Attorney General’s Office, while I did discover that Payday loans are illegal in NC, as well as many other states, they were unable to prosecute these fraudulent marketing companies.
Eventually the listing was taken down, and I recommend for my colleagues and even clients to Google yourself, your company and any related information to see who’s using your information fraudulently.
One reason I became a mortgage lender is because of my background. As a military officer and a pilot, honesty and ethical practices are imperative. In the mortgage business honesty and ethical practices ensure quality service for my clients. Not every company will do the same.
With so many sharks out there, it’s important to know who holds themself to a higher ethical bar, both in the work that we do and in our service to the community.
