Home Sweet Home for the Holidays

This week, many of us with gather with family and friends over a Thanksgiving meal filled with turkey, sweet potatoes, casseroles, and dessert. We might enjoy conversations over the table, welcome home family from college or abroad, and make paper turkey decorations.

Or we may watch a traditional Thanksgiving Parade, afternoon movie, or enjoy the newest movie release.

Here are 5 tips to help celebrate the Thanksgiving Week:

1. The Thanksgiving Box
   Each day, write down a thanksgiving on a slip of paper. Place the slips of a paper in a special decorated box or jar. Opt to read Thanksgivings or keep the box on the table as a reminder of how many blessings your family has.
2. Home Sweet Home
   For many people, having a home is one of the most favored Thanksgiving blessings. Enjoy your home by adding a new photograph of family members, a memorabilia box, or frame a Thanksgiving list.
3. Serve Someone Else
   Get into the holiday spirit with an act of kindness. Invite a new friend to dinner, volunteer for a community Thanksgiving meal, or pay for the person behind you in line.
4. Gratitude Garland
   It’s not quite time for stockings yet, so move items off the mantel. Take a piece of ribbon and hang it just below the mantel. Clip Envelopes or Cards with gratitude notes onto the ribbon for a home creation.
5. Countdown to Christmas
   In addition to counting down the days of the nativity, add a Thanksgiving thought for the day.
